The Carraghgour II

The “CURRAGHOUR II” has the distinction of being the last ship built from start to finish in the Liffey Dockyard, Dublin. She was built in 1962 for The Limerick Harbour Commissioners as a Single Screw Grab and Suction Hopper Dredger – Ship No. 179 -. She is still in service (but only just) in the Shannon Estuary. On the wall behind the Buoy Light you will see the shipyard drawing of the deck layout and general configuration of the “CURRAGHOUR II”. On the shelf adjacent to the drawing is a scale model on which each detail on the drawing is faithfully reproduced.
