The Isolda

You will see a scale model of the Irish Lights Tender ISOLDA, which was bombed and sunk by German aircraft on December 19, 1940 with a loss of six men. The surviving crewmembers landed in Kilmore Quay in the ship’s lifeboats. The eerie wreck lies South East of the Saltees at a depth of 62 meters. The bow and stern sections are relatively intact – with devastation amidships. A serving dish with the Irish Lights crest may be seen in the display cabinet.
